WASHINGTON PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH SEEKS DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRY

WPUMC is a growing church with about 280 members.  We are looking for a talented, energetic and fun
individual to join us as our Director of Music Ministry.  This person will be responsible for directing all choral
activity within the church including the adult choir, the children's choir and any other musical events sponsored
by the church.  Our choir currently has 15 members and we practice on Wednesday evenings and Sunday morning
before service.  The children sing throughout the year primarily around major holidays, at the end of the school year
and after Vacation Bible School (August).

We are a very flexible group and have, over the past two years, experimented with many different styles of music.
Yes, we sing from the hymnals.  But, we've also performed music written by contemporary christian composers, African
chants, and secular music if the message complements the service.  We're willing to work hard to present a good
performance but we're not professional musicians (except for our guitar player and our pianist) so having fun
with music is also important.

This position is currently open and we are actively seeking candidates.  We would like a commitment of 10 hours
per week to include rehearsals, Sunday service performances, and weekly staff meetings (late Wednesday afternoon).
Compensation is negotiable based upon experience.  Also, the Director of Music Ministry is provided with an office
at the church from which he/she is able to conduct private music lessons.

Please send your resume and cover letter (or cover email) to: Michael S. Jack, Staff Parish Relations Chairman,
michaelsjack@comcast.net.  You can visit us at www.washparkumc.org for more information about our church.
